What You Didn’t Know About Eye Care

August 3, 2015

You need to have good eyesight in order to see life’s beautiful gifts. Many people take their eyes for granted, only to lose their vision somewhere down the road. This is not what you want to encounter, so be sure you work toward proper eye care.

It is important to know sunglasses are not created equal. You want to make sure that you can block the UV rays completely. While you might look at sunglasses with just your fashion sense, you must understand that cheap sunglasses are going to negatively affect your vision.

TIP! Find highly qualified doctors for your checkups. To find a good doctor near you, ask your family and friends or check patient feedback and online reviews.

Omega-3 helps protect your eyes. Make sure your diet has the right nutrients in it. Be sure you have halibut, tuna, salmon, plus dark green leafy vegetables in your diet. Incorporate a daily serving into your regular diet.

Just because you blink a lot does not automatically mean you have an eye problem. If your eyes aren’t dry, it could be from stress. If this happens, try to relax. If it is not due to stress, go see an opthamologist.

Wear good sunglasses. They can keep your eyes protected from harmful UV rays. Look for those that provide 100% protection from UVA and UVB rays. Think about getting lenses that are polarized if you’re going to drive often. They help to reduce glare. Finally, even if you wear contact lenses that give you some UV protection, you should still wear sunglasses.

Eye Drops

Use eye drops sparingly. While they do provide relief, overusing them can cause other issues. If you are not getting enough help from eye drops, speak with an eye specialist for alternate treatments.

Do not use the same makeup for more than a few months. You want to also replace your eye contacts every couple of months for the very same reasons, and that is to prevent build-up of bacteria. After a few months, you’re simply rubbing a brush covered in bacteria onto your face and around your eyes. This causes eye damage as well as damage to surrounding skin.

TIP! Know your family’s history of eye issues. A lot of the time these things are hereditary and can be helped if you go to a doctor.

Look into your family’s health history when it comes to eye health. Some eye conditions are hereditary. Because of this, it becomes important to be aware of anyone in the family that has suffered from them. You can then take steps to reduce risks for certain conditions so that you don’t develop eye problems.

As you age, it is normal for the eyes to feel dry more often. You can help eliminate this issue with omega-3 fatty acids. Avoiding extremes of air temperature can also help. So, keep vents that blow excessive air away from your eyes to keep them from getting dried out.

Eyesight is not something to take for granted. Picture in your mind everything that you enjoy seeing, then think about how you would feel if you could not see them anymore. That is reason enough for you to stick to the above tips about good eye care.
